CIA had active contractors amongst cabal of intel officials who suggested Biden laptop was Russian fake

A number of former intelligence officials worked to sabotage Joe Biden after the New York Post blackmailed his campaign with a damaging expose on his son’s laptop and its contents ahead of the 2020 election. It turns out that national security actors were equally complicit in skewing the narrative and tipping the scales in Biden’s favor.

background

With less than a month until the 2020 election, the New York Post
report He spoke about the damning contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop and raised various questions about then-candidate Joe Biden, particularly about his questionable ties to Ukraine.

For example, the report noted that a Burisma board adviser thanked Hunter Biden for introducing him to Joe Biden about a year before Biden, as vice president, allegedly extorted money from an Eastern European country to fire a prosecutor who was investigating Burisma.

The report also portrayed Joe Biden as dishonest and cited other damning evidence stored on his son’s laptop, including videos of Hunter Biden having sex and smoking crack cocaine, as well as videos implicating questionable business dealings with China.

Some in the intelligence community who are hostile towards President Donald Trump swooped in to protect Biden in the final weeks before the election.
release In an open letter dated October 19, 2020, they argued that the story about Hunter Biden’s laptop “bears all the classic hallmarks of a Russian information operation” intended to damage Biden’s position as the Democratic nominee.

None of the intelligence officials appear to have seen the evidence they referenced before signing the letter, and none of the signatories have expressed regret since.

Biden made heavy use of the misleading letter, which was further distorted by the liberal media.

During the debate with Trump on October 22, Biden
Said“Look, 50 former national intelligence officials have said what he’s accusing me of is a Russian plot. They say it has all the hallmarks of it. Four or five former CIA directors, both parties, say what he’s saying is bullshit. Nobody believes it except him and his best friend, Rudy Giuliani.”

One of the former CIA directors Biden mentioned, Michael Morell, later
testified He told Congress he wrote the letter “to help Vice President Biden” and, more specifically, “to help him win the election.”

Morell also said the Biden campaign was involved and “helped strategize the release of the statement.”

Morell said the deception scheme was sparked by a phone call he received from Antony Blinken, then a senior Biden campaign official.

74% of Americans
investigated In a 2022 survey, Trump told the Technometric Institute for Policy and Politics that the FBI and intelligence agencies had deliberately misled the public and voters, with 79% of respondents saying a false version of the laptop would likely have changed the outcome of the election in Trump’s favor.

CIA vs. Trump

the House Judiciary Committee, the Select Subcommittee on Weaponization of the Federal Government, and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence;
release Reports on Tuesday said that former acting CIA director Michael Morell and former CIA inspector general David Buckley were both active CIA contractors with top secret clearances at the time they signed the letter.

Congressional investigators reached that conclusion based on information provided to them earlier this year by Robert Dugas, the CIA’s deputy general counsel for litigation and investigations.

Morrell denies being a contractor at the time.
tell The New York Post wrote, “If you write that, [be] mistaken.”

The report noted that in addition to the possibility that the unnamed signatories were similarly active spies, “at the time of the statement, the other members had special ‘green card’ access to the CIA, granting them access to secure CIA facilities.”

According to reports, former CIA chief of staff Jeremy Bash, the ex-husband of a moderator of Thursday’s Trump-Biden debate, and former deputy director of the National Security Agency Richard Leggett were working for the CIA as independent contractors with top secret clearances at the time they signed the letter.

Other active elements of the CIA were also peripherally involved.

“Senior CIA officials, including then-CIA Director Gina Haspel, were aware of Hunter Biden’s statement before it was approved and made public,” the report said.

The CIA conveniently refrained from seizing the opportunity at the time to “slow down the CIA’s process of reviewing publication submissions and ensure that such an extraordinary statement was properly scrutinized.”

The report said the revelations about Messrs. Morell and Buckley’s activities “raise concerns that they may have used their positions to prepare, promote and quickly secure approval for statements”.

Indeed, the PCRB had continually sought expedited decisions from CIA officials and ODNI partners on the status of the statement’s release, after Morell specifically requested an expedited vetting process, and this came at a time when he, as a contractor, was set to be President Biden’s nominee for CIA director.

The report also said the signatories’ decision to use their titles to advance a narrative favorable to Biden “improperly involved the CIA in the domestic political process.”
