Republicans declare Biden ‘unfit for office’ following ‘disastrous’ debate performance

The Republican Party was in a celebratory mood following Thursday’s debate between former President Trump and President Biden.

After the debate, several elected officials took to social media to congratulate Trump on his “landslide victory” and Biden on his “disastrous” performance.

“Three things are clear: America was and is better under Trump. Biden is unfit to be president and those who support him should be ashamed. Trump is dominating. A second debate is not an option,” Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, widely considered the leading candidate to be Trump’s vice presidential nominee, said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Biden criticized for ‘old’ appearance and ‘weak’ voice during first presidential debate: ‘Very disturbing’

“Congratulations to President Trump on his resounding victory in tonight’s presidential debate,” wrote Alabama Senator Katie Britt. “The Biden-Harris effort has failed. It’s time to bring power back to the White House,” while North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, another possible vice presidential candidate, wrote that Biden “has no answers to the big questions facing the American people.”

“President Trump was clear and has the record to back it up! This debate was a knockout for Donald Trump,” he added.

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley called Trump’s debate performance “underwhelming” and said Biden “couldn’t even understand the questions.”

Another RNC-linked account mocked Biden’s closing statement, writing, “Biden ended the debate with an incoherent speech exactly the same as he began, a disastrous and humiliating performance. Not only is he not playing all of his cards, he can’t even find them. Sad!”

New York Rep. Elise Stefanik argued that Trump has “proven” he is the only candidate who can save the country, while conservative Republican firebrand and Arizona Senate candidate Kali Lake said:[Biden] He is clearly unfit for the job. I think it’s time to recall the President who coined the phrase, “You’re Fired!”
