Republican Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky announced Friday that his wife, Rhonda, died Thursday.
“Yesterday, my high school sweetheart, the love of my life for over 35 years, the loving mother of my four children, the smartest and kindest woman I have ever known, forever a beautiful and wise queen, Rhonda, passed away and went to heaven. Thank you for your prayers for our family during this difficult time,” the congressman said. Tweeted.
“His beloved wife, Rhonda, was a shining light, a brilliant, kind and wonderful woman.”
“She was valedictorian of her high school and we went to prom together. She went to MIT and Harvard, got a degree in mechanical engineering from MIT and dedicated her life to our family,” he said. Added“Last week I toured Mount Rainier with my grandson. He had the best mommy ever! Love you Rhonda,” Massey said. I have written.
In late August 2022, Rep. Posts Regarding their 29th anniversary, he wrote, “Happy 29th anniversary today to my high school sweetheart and loving wife. Who else could have valedicted my high school, solved differential equations at MIT, run a farm, canned beans, baked apple pies, put up tobacco, raked hay, raised four perfect kids and put up with me?”
Condolences have been pouring in on social media.

Just before I arrived, I received a message from his chief of staff saying his boss had to go to Kentucky for a ‘family emergency.’ The meeting with the staff went on, but they were unaware of the tragedy (and they may not have been). I even joked with them that Massey needed to clean out his desk, which was piled high with papers, books and other clutter. One staff member said, ‘We always make him clean his desk before the August holidays.’ I’m sick to my stomach right now. Praying for Thomas Massey and his family.”
