JB Bickerstaff hadn’t been out of work for long.
The 45-year-old agreed to a five-year contract to become the Pistons’ new head coach. According to ESPN:.
Bickerstaff was fired by the Cavaliers last month after five seasons, despite leading the team to consecutive playoff appearances the past two years and to the Eastern Conference semifinals last year, their most in six years.
The Pistons fired Monty Williams after just one season earlier this month, leaving a head coaching position open.
He signed a six-year, $78.5 million contract last year, the largest contract for a coach in NBA history.
But last year they finished with a dismal 14-68 record, last place in the Eastern Conference and at one point suffered the longest losing streak in a season in NBA history, going on a 28-game losing streak.

Detroit still owes him $65 million.
But the team has entered a new chapter.
