Michael J. Fox appears with Coldplay at Glastonbury

Michael J. Fox made a surprise appearance onstage with Coldplay at England’s Glastonbury Festival on Saturday.

The Back to the Future star shares the photo From the Instagram event: I’m grateful to the band for giving me this experience.

“My team: Lauren, John, Jeff and Steve…love and gratitude to the @coldplay team at Glastonbury who took such good care of us. Also thanks to Chris, Will, Jonny, Guy and Phil,” Fox wrote in the caption.

He continued, “Oh yeah, in case you were wondering… it was absolutely mind-blowing. Every band has a time, every band has a time. This is @coldplay’s time.”

Fox posted photos of himself onstage with his team in a wheelchair, as well as one of himself standing in front of a sign that read “Optimism is a Political Act,” as well as a short video of the band walking backstage.

according to variety, Before performing their song “Humankind,” Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin introduced Fox to the stage, saying, “With a Chuck Berry riff and a Biff-fisting gesture, ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Michael J. Fox.”

People who shared the video BBC Music on YouTube Fox remained at the venue afterwards, playing guitar from his wheelchair during the band’s performance of “Fix You,” with Martin kneeling next to him for part of the performance.

After finishing the song, Martin thanked the audience, adding, “Especially since the main reason we’re in a band is because of Back to the Future, we want to thank our eternal hero and one of the most amazing people on the planet, Michael J. Fox. Thank you so much Michael…a hero.”

Coldplay also shared the video. Official Instagram page, “Thank you Michael J. Fox for making our dreams come true,” they wrote.

Fox has previously performed with Coldplay, attending their 2016 concert at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, where he performed the Chuck Berry song “Johnny B. Goode,” which appears in “Back to the Future.”

The “Spin City” star has been battling Parkinson’s disease since being diagnosed in 1991.

In April, the 63-year-old was included in Time magazine’s “Most Influential People” list and received a moving tribute from fellow Canadian-born star Ryan Reynolds, who thanked him for promoting research and supporting others affected by the disease, including his father.

“I watched my father raise the bar for purpose and passion,” Reynolds wrote. “It would be a bit lazy to simply describe him as the greatest Parkinson’s research advocate on the planet – someone who helped not only my father, but millions of people feel less alone. It would also be a bit lazy to simply see him as a movie star who shaped the lives of people across the planet with his unique, electric wit and self-aware charm. My father was the sum of all these beautiful parts.”
