Patrick Kane re-signed with the Red Wings on a one-year contract. According to Larry Brooks of The Washington Post:
According to The Washington Post’s Larry Brooks, the Rangers had been focusing on reuniting with Kane in the days leading up to the start of NHL free agency on Monday, but the long-time Blackhawks starter opted to remain in Detroit, where he had 20 goals and 27 assists in 50 games last season.

Kane, 35, signed with Detroit in November and got off to a slow start after undergoing hip resurfacing surgery, which had been an issue during his time with the Blueshirts.
The Rangers acquired Kane before the 2023 trade deadline to bolster their playoff run but lost to the Devils in the first round.
Kane had five goals and 12 assists in 19 regular-season games with the Rangers, before adding one goal and five assists in the seven-game series.
