Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has suggested that President Joe Biden is mentally incompetent to carry out the duties of the presidency.
“Biden’s painful debate performance left indelible scars on voters and makes it clear that he does not have the cognitive capacity to carry out the duties of the office of the presidency,” DeSantis said in a statement. post About X. “The media knew this, so now the cries to replace Biden come not from any principled opposition to a cognitively impaired president, but simply because they know he will lose the election.”
Following a lackluster showing in the Iowa Republican caucuses earlier this year, DeSantis withdrew from the Republican presidential primary and endorsed former President Donald Trump.
Republican Rep. Chip Roy of Texas introduced a resolution calling for Vice President Kamala Harris to invoke the 25th Amendment to the Constitution to declare Biden unable to fulfill the duties of the presidency.
Even the New York Times editorial board has suggested Biden should drop out of the race.
But Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman has remained steadfast in his support of Biden’s reelection effort, even after Biden was panned for his performance in a debate with former President Donald Trump.
“I have no intention of joining the Democratic vultures who will sit on Biden’s shoulders after the debate. No one knows better than me that a tough debate is not the sum of a person and their record,” Fetterman said. Tweeted.
