Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon II was arrested Sunday in Cleveland County, Oklahoma, on suspicion of DUI and speeding, according to multiple reports.
A “half-empty bottle of lemonade vodka and a half-empty bottle of tequila” were found in his vehicle, according to an affidavit in the case. ABC affiliate KOCO News 5 reported the story in detail.Officers said Gordon was driving 82 mph in a 65 mph speed limit zone.
The 20-year-old running back initially told officers he hadn’t been drinking, but later claimed he had had one drink after refusing a field sobriety test. KOCO News 5 reported..
Gordon was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence while under the age of 21, carrying an open container of alcohol, failure to maintain a single lane and speeding.
His blood alcohol level was 0.11, above the legal limit.
An Oklahoma State University spokesperson said the university is “aware” of the situation. From ESPN.
Gordon led the nation with a spectacular 1,732 rushing yards last year and recorded 45 runs of 10 or more yards.
Those numbers helped Gordon win Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Year honors and finish seventh in Heisman voting.
According to preliminary scouting reports, Gordon is projected to be selected in the early rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft and is ranked as one of the top running backs in the upcoming class.
The arrest will likely be investigated by NFL officials as part of the pre-draft process.
Gordon’s phenomenal performance led Oklahoma State to a 10-4 record in the 2023 season, including a loss to Texas in the Big 12 title game and a win over Texas A&M in the Texas Bowl.
Oklahoma State will open the 2024 season on August 31 against the South Dakota State Jackrabbits.
