The history between the two teams dates back to last year’s College National Championship and they have developed a must-watch rivalry.
Clarke recently denied any hint of a rivalry between the pair, but make no mistake, the drama that has unfolded between them over the past 15 months has become a saga.
Clark knows that, but says there are more important things to focus on.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been teammates with her before, even with USA Basketball or anything like that,” Clark said. said Tuesday night“I know everybody’s going to be excited, but I hope it doesn’t take away from the excitement of everybody else. This is a huge accomplishment for the entire U.S. team and the entire WNBA team. Everybody deserves the same accolades.”

A’ja Wilson talks about change in WNBA ‘energy’ after conversation with Kaitlyn Clark ‘became too gossipy’
“I don’t want the focus of All-Star Weekend to be taken away from any of that, because that would be unfair to them. And, of course, this is a really hard thing to accomplish. So the best way we can celebrate all of them would be great. And I’m obviously going to savor the experience, because who knows if we’ll ever be there again. It’s definitely going to be fun for all of us.”
Clark is averaging 16 points and 7.1 assists per game, both of which lead all WNBA rookies, and she ranks third league-wide in assists. Reese recently set a league record for most consecutive games with a double-double (10). Reese leads the WNBA with 11.8 rebounds per game and is one of just four players averaging a double-double this season.
It all started at the 2023 U.S. Championships when Reese, then a player at Louisiana State University, challenged Clark, then a player for the University of Iowa Hawkeyes, by saying, “Can’t you see me?” and pointing at her ring finger.

Clark and Iowa got revenge at the last March Madness tournament, and Clark is now 2-1 in her WNBA career against Reese. Now the two will share a locker room, a bench and maybe even a court. Their final two meetings will be two of the most-watched WNBA games in the last 20 years.
Clark and Reese were the only rookies selected to the All-Star team, and they would play against the U.S. Olympic team. Clark was left off the team, sparking heated debate.
