Indiana takes a stand against Biden’s ‘election interference’ scheme

In May, The Oversight Project, a government watchdog group at the Heritage Foundation, revealed in an exclusive story for The Blaze News how President Joe Biden’s Executive Order 14019 acts as “election interference.”

The executive order, issued early in Biden’s presidency, effectively forces federal agencies that regularly interact with the American public to mobilize historically Democratic groups to get out the vote.

The monitoring project Strategic planning for various agenciesIt offers insight into the extent to which agencies were willing to go to increase turnout among voters favorable to Biden in accordance with the executive order.

In addition to offering a peek behind the scenes, the watchdog group detailed three ways states could sabotage the plan: passing legislation attacking the application of the order regarding presidential elections, sabotaging the plan with complaints about possible violations of the Hatch Act, and removing or attacking designations of federal agencies acting under the National Voter Registration Act that have not been provided by states or that have been provided without proper authority.

Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales, a Republican, responded on Tuesday, stressing in a letter to federal agencies and departments operating in the state that they are not permitted to conduct voter registration or other election activities without the state’s permission. Any such activities will cease immediately.

In a letter dated June 28th Obtained “To my knowledge, your office is not a designated voter registrar,” Morales said, according to the Indiana Capital Chronicle.

“The counterattack begins.”

“If your agency has been distributing voter registration forms or assisting the public with voter registration forms or absentee ballots, you are asked to immediately cease such conduct as unauthorized conduct of such activities is likely a violation of Indiana and federal law,” Morales added.

Morales’ office release The warning letters, reportedly sent to more than 120 agencies, were in direct response to President Biden’s executive order and “violate state law as well as congressional authorization and funding,” the letter said.

“Under state and federal law (Indiana Statute 3-7-17 “Under state and national voter registration laws, government entities must be specifically designated by a state as a ‘voter registration agency’ in order to lawfully offer or provide voter registration services and absentee ballot assistance,” the release reads. “Such designations are critical to ensuring compliance with laws governing the administration of voter registration forms and absentee ballot applications, which protect the integrity of our elections.”

“When it comes to elections, the states know best,” Morales said. I have written Regarding X. “We don’t need expanded federal powers to conduct safe and secure elections!”

Morales also said he and his administration are committed to increasing voter turnout.

“Alongside my team, we have conducted voter outreach activities across the Hoosier State, from festivals to county fairs to sporting events, and these efforts will intensify as we approach the November election,” Morales said in Tuesday’s announcement.

Monitoring Project I got it.“The counterattack begins.”

“We’re pleased to be working with Heritage Action for America to bring this to fruition,” said Katherine Gunsalas, director of state advocacy for Heritage Action for America. stated“By signing Executive Order 14019, President Biden is abusing the power of the federal government in a desperate attempt to bolster his sinking election campaign. Thankfully, the people of Indiana won’t listen.”

“Secretary Morales should be commended for protecting Indiana from the federal government’s unjust expansion of power and for directing state agencies not to go along with Biden’s plan,” Gunsalas added.

“We are pleased that Secretary Morales has accepted our recommendation to remove the federal government from Indiana’s elections,” Mike Howell, executive director of the Oversight Project, said in a statement. “Indiana should decide their own elections. This illegal, taxpayer-funded scheme to hire a government agency to run get-out-the-vote activities on behalf of the Biden campaign is a flagrant abuse of power.”
