Republicans furious that Hunter Biden is reportedly sitting in on White House meetings

Republican members of the House of Representatives have expressed frustration over reports that President Biden’s eldest son, Hunter Biden, has been present at meetings at the White House in recent days.

“Joe Biden and Hunter Biden have a history of selling their family name to foreign adversaries like Russia and China, and Hunter’s now involvement in official business operations only adds to the urgency of the need for transparency and accountability regarding the Biden family’s corrupt business dealings,” House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) told Fox News Digital on Wednesday.

Rep. Greg Stube (R-Fla.) called Hunter Biden a “walking national security threat.”

“He raised over $20 million for Biden from foreign entities, including the Chinese Communist Party. [family]”He’s also the owner of the infernal laptop that the FBI is investigating. … Does Hunter have the necessary clearance to attend a high-level White House meeting with his father?” Steve told Fox News Digital.

It comes afterwards NBC News The president’s son was reportedly present at meetings between Biden and senior White House aides in recent days.

He reportedly began taking part in the meetings after Biden returned from Camp David on Monday.

“Hunter Biden wants Joe Biden to remain president more than anyone in America. He should be worried. [about] “If we have a Trump administration, the new attorney general will consider this a criminal offense. The moment his father leaves office, the preferential treatment will end,” said Sen. Scott Fitzgerald, a Republican from Wisconsin.

Hunter Biden has long been a target of Republican scrutiny. House Republican impeachment investigators have accused him of using his father’s political stature and connections to enrich himself in foreign business deals. House Republican leaders also believe President Biden himself participated in and benefited from the scheme, something Biden and his allies deny.

Former Rep. Charlie Rangel, 94, has questioned whether Biden should be in a nursing home rather than the White House.

Hunter Biden was recently convicted of three felony firearms charges and faces further legal trouble in a federal tax investigation, the latter of which is set to go to trial in California in September.

The report comes as pressure grows for Biden to step down as the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee following his performance at Thursday’s CNN debate, with concerns about his advanced age and mental fitness to hold the job dominating headlines this week.

Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tenn., said on Fox Business’ “Mornings with Maria” that Hunter Biden has a vested interest in keeping his father in power to protect him from the worst of scrutiny.

“I think it’s probably unsurprising that Hunter wants his father in the White House. His best option for protection and immunity going forward is for his father to be in the White House,” Ogles said when asked about the report. “When administrations change, personnel change, and all of a sudden Hunter loses the umbrella and protection of his father.”

NBC News reported that aides were “stunned” by Hunter Biden’s unexpected appearance at a White House meeting, with one aide saying, “What the hell is going on?”

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said the president’s son had been present during debate preparations and denied concerns when asked about his attendance at Tuesday’s regular press conference.

“This is a week where we have more family coming to the White House, and we’ll be seeing some of them on the Fourth of July,” she said.
