In the immediate aftermath of the catastrophic debate appearance, the Biden forces have rallied. They sent their man forward to events tanned and prompted electronically, but these appearances have not quelled the worries of Democrats both in the party and in the press. Now that his advancing mental deficiencies have been noticed, it seems even skeptics are now looking for them in his appearances. He has not disappointed. That is one of the problem – once the dementia genie is out of the bottle, even the slightest misstep will be attributed to the condition. Even during White House press events, the once carefully crafted and duplicitous statements of Biden’s energy and stamina are seen for what they are by all watching – lies and deliberate deceptions. Not only that, the mainstream media, which has been suffering a severe decline, just loves to go into “crisis mode”, with 24 hour breathless coverage. This is their chance to shine again and maybe play a key role as kingmaker. They become players in the drama, not just reporters. How can Biden both get out in public and evade their now more closely calibrated scrutiny? He can’t. It likely is now, just a matter of time before the earthen dam holding rising waters gives way. In fact, as we write, it appears the dam is starting to break. Nancy Pelosi on the Sunday news shows was all lined up in Biden’s corner. Now even she has shifted wondering whether Joe’s mental machinery was subject to just an event, or is is a condition? James Clyburn, grand pooh bah of the Congressional Black Caucus, and the man most responsible for putting a man suffering dementia into the White House, also seems to be shifting somewhat.
