despicable meis, of course, a series that centers around family. In the first film, Gru adopts three girls as part of his plan to become the world’s greatest villain, but is transformed by their kindness and love. By the end of the film, he has a change of heart and becomes a reluctant hero. The sequels chart his family’s journey. Despicable Me 2 And her friendship with her long-lost brother. Despicable Me 3In the latest movie, we can see him develop a bond with Junior.
The film begins with a flashback to Gru attending the ’85 reunion of his school for villains. Gru goes undercover to catch Maxim. Maxim wins the alumni award and demonstrates his new superpower: the ability to transform into a cockroach. (He also has a ray gun that can turn humans into those nasty bugs.) Soon, however, Gru and the rest of the Anti-Villain League work together to arrest Maxim, but not before threatening him: “You better listen to what I’m saying, or I’ll wipe you out!”
Gru and his family go undercover on the Mayflower, but predictably have a bad time playing house: Gru forgets the kids’ fake names, Lucy, the hair stylist, burns a client’s scalp, and the daughter knocks out her martial arts instructor.
Their true identities are completely exposed when Poppy Prescott, the cheeky neighbor’s daughter, confronts Gru about his true identity and threatens to reveal it if he doesn’t help her with the heist. It appears that Poppy is a wannabe villain intent on stealing his beloved honey badger from the School for Scoundrels. The heist is almost a success, but Maxim finds Gru, sparking a clash of supernatural powers.
Despicable Me 4 The film continues the family-centric streak of its predecessors. Despite a difficult start, Gru loves his son and shows deep affection for his daughters. He is heartbroken when he sends his eldest daughter off to school and worries that she will not find friends. When his youngest daughter is separated from her pet goat (goats are not allowed on the Mayflower), he is heartbroken for her.
This film, like the entire series, skillfully weaves positive themes of adoption, the joys of family, and the transformative power of second chances throughout the story — there’s a lot to like for Christian families.
