Caitlin Clark plays coy when asked about WNBA 3-point contest

Caitlin Clark has everyone on edge.

The recent All-Star selection played coy when speaking to reporters on Friday about her intentions for the 3-Point Contest at the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game.

“I don’t know yet. We’ll see,” Clark said when asked if he would consider competing in the tournament. “I haven’t decided yet. … I can’t give you all the answers today.”.”

Clark, known for her impressive 37.8 percent 3-point shooting performance at the University of Iowa last season, was named to the WNBA All-Star team on Tuesday night, just three months after being drafted first overall by the Indiana Fever.

She is currently shooting 33.7% from three-point range with the Fever.

The All-Star selection was announced on ESPN just before Clark helped draw the largest WNBA regular-season attendance in 25 years to the Fever-Aces game.

On Tuesday night in Las Vegas, a crowd of 20,366 came to watch Indiana lose 88-69 to the two-time defending champion Aces.

Despite the crowd, Clark was limited to 13 points on 4-of-12 field goal attempts and just 1-of-7 3-pointers, but he did have 11 assists and six rebounds.

The rookie all-star has been named to Team WNBA’s roster alongside Fever teammates Aaliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell, which she sees as an accomplishment for the franchise.

“It’s so cool,” Clark said. “To be there with them. [Mitchell] and [Boston] “It’s obviously very difficult for a franchise to have three of their players available. It’s not something to be taken for granted.”

She will also be teaming up with rival and Sky rookie Angel Reese.

“I know everybody’s excited, but I don’t want it to take away from everybody else’s excitement,” Clark said of her and Reese’s All-Star selections. “This is a huge accomplishment for everyone on Team USA and Team WNBA. We all deserve the same accolades.”

“I don’t want any of that to be detracted from and just become the focus of All-Star Weekend, because that’s not fair to them.”
