President Biden appeared for an interview on ABC News to air Friday following a lackluster debate performance that left Democrats reeling and calling for a new party leader.
The interview, conducted by George Stephanopoulos, will air on ABC.
Calls for Biden to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race have reached a fever pitch after the political world was astonished by his struggle to finish sentences, his occasional confusion and his raspy voice that aides blamed on a cold during a debate with former President Trump.
The response from the Biden campaign and the White House so far has been to weather the storm. At a rally in Wisconsin early Friday, Biden declared to his critics: “I’m going to run, and I’m going to win.”
The interview with Stephanopoulos was one of Biden’s few unscripted moments on camera in the week since the debate aftermath.
