NYC drowning leaves 2 teens dead in waters off Coney Island in Brooklyn

Two teenage girls drowned Friday night off the coast of Coney Island, police said.

Police said the two girls, ages 17 and 18, went missing in the water around 8:10 p.m. near Stillwell Avenue in Brooklyn and were found on shore at 9:15 p.m.

Both victims were taken to Coney Island Hospital, where they were pronounced dead, according to the New York Police Department.

Police had initially received information about a 24-year-old man who was also missing. in the water, but the reports later proved to be unfounded.

The tragic deaths come one week after two teenage boys were swept away and later found dead in Jacob Riis Park in the Rockaways, Queens.
