There is still some time before the Olympics begin, but tensions are already rising.
France and Germany met in an international friendly at the LANXESS Arena in Cologne, Germany, but it turned out to be a disappointing result.
With just over two minutes left in the second quarter and France leading Germany 41-23, Dennis Schroder, who also plays for the Brooklyn Nets, drove to the basket and was fouled by Evan Fournier, a free agent who played for the Knicks and Pistons last season.

Schroder protested the foul and quickly approached Fournier to begin verbal abuse, but Fournier quickly fought back by wrapping his hands around Schroder’s neck.
The two were quickly separated and Fournier was ejected for his actions.

The two teams are in Group B at the Olympics along with Japan and the soon-to-be-announced winner of the Olympic Qualifiers, and will face off on August 2nd.
Germany also has Franz Wagner and Moritz Wagner of the Orlando Magic and Daniel Theis of the Los Angeles Clippers, who just signed a $229 million contract with the Magic, while France has a ton of players, including last year’s Rookie of the Year, Victor Ouenbanyama, and Defensive Player of the Year, Rudy Gobert.
