Marianne Williamson presses Biden to withdraw: ‘We need to recalibrate quickly’

Former presidential candidate Marianne Williamson has argued that the Democratic Party needs to “urgently recalibrate” ahead of the election, and is pressuring President Biden to drop out of the race.

Williamson Participated She sat down with Fox News Channel’s Neil Cavuto on Saturday to discuss why the president should step down even though he’s already won primaries across the country and has delegates to his name.

“He did win some delegates, but the people who voted for him did so before last Thursday’s debate,” Williamson said. “This is an emergency for the Democratic Party, and we need to do something about it, and we need to do it quickly.”

in Series of posts Speaking on the social media platform X, Williamson said Democrats needed to “recalibrate quickly” because Americans needed to know their government could handle an emergency.

“We need a mini-primary, decided by the delegates themselves, not by party elites,” she wrote. “We need a truly democratic process and an open convention.”

Williamson, who once served as spiritual adviser to Oprah Winfrey, launched an unlikely presidential campaign in March 2023 before wrapping it up in February, then just weeks later announced he was “relaunching” his campaign, only to end it for a second time last month after the primaries ended.

The progressive Democrat announced his third candidacy after Biden’s poor debate performance.

Earlier this week, Williamson vowed to replace Biden, saying “it’s time for a new Democratic candidate.”

She told Cavuto she is calling on Biden to step down with “respect and compassion,” as the president remains adamant about staying the course despite growing urgings from his supporters and fellow Democrats.

Williamson argued Democrats need to have these conversations to counter the “breeding ground for resentment” created by former President Trump.

“We need to have the conversations in the next two months that we should have had in the last year and a half,” she said.
