Hollywood Democratic donors are quietly turning their backs on tycoon Jeffrey Katzenberg, persuading donors with promises that President Joe Biden is healthy enough in body and mind to serve another four years in office, despite being 81 years old.
As Breitbart News reported last month, the former chairman of The Walt Disney Company and CEO and co-founder of DreamWorks “has had to go to great lengths to convince skeptical Democratic donors that President Joe Biden is not too old to win reelection.”

Last year, Jeffrey Katzenberg, co-chair of Biden’s reelection effort, faced significant skepticism from key Democratic donors who believed Biden, who is in his 80s, couldn’t serve another four years in office, according to one research outlet. The New York Times report.
Even after Mr. Katzenberg tried to ease their concerns, some people remained unconvinced, so he invited them to a meeting with Mr. Biden at the White House and persuaded them to participate.
According to California Gov. Gavin Newsom (Democrat), Katzenberg told donors: “Trust me. If you don’t trust me, trust me. But check. Come with me, see for yourself, engage with the president.”
“He started doing that consistently,” Newsom said. “He played a really key role in getting people off the sidelines and galvanizing them to really put their all into this campaign.”
Donors who reportedly donated more than $30 million to the Biden campaign at Katzenberg’s urging have expressed outrage following Biden’s disastrous performance in the debate with former President Trump, in which he occasionally lost his train of thought and spoke slowly and slurred.

“What Jeffrey Katzenberg has done here is unbelievable,” said one Hollywood mogul, donor and influential Democrat, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. “Jeffrey lied about Biden. Every single one of Biden’s aides lied… It’s total hypocrisy.”
“Everybody’s furious,” said a senior Hollywood Democrat. “People are angry. They feel betrayed.”
Certainly they feel betrayed because, as a Hollywood elder statesman, Mr. Katzenberg had personally vouched for Mr. Biden’s mental and physical fitness, even as donors expressed early concerns about Mr. Biden’s age.
Democratic Party sources told TheWrap that Katzenberg has been the subject of much Hollywood buzz in recent days. While his stature in the entertainment industry remains largely untapped, some say his influence is waning in the wake of the collapse of tech company Quibi and the election campaign of Joe Biden, who, along with George Clooney and Julia Roberts, has courted Hollywood donors.
“Jeffrey is doing the exact same thing he did with Quibi,” one power broker told TheWrap. “He won’t stop calling, so just give him the money. [him to leave you alone]”…They donate money. And a lot of people did that. But that’s what happened with Jeffrey, too.”
“He wants to be powerful and has completely lost sight of his goal of getting rid of Trump without telling anyone the truth about his supporters,” the powerbroker added.

Katzenberg remained silent after this disastrous debate. Financial Times report The day after the debate, he said he had “raised people’s eyebrows” by avoiding a meeting to coordinate celebrity endorsements.
Despite calls from Democratic donors and the media for Biden to step down, the president has vowed to press ahead.
