Manny Machado celebrates with fan on field before security takedown

Everyone was joining in the Padres celebration.

After star third baseman Manny Machado hit a walk-off, two-run homer in the team’s 10-8 win over the Diamondbacks on Friday night, one fan ran onto the field to join in the fun.

The supporter ran next to Machado on the grass at Petco Park and began jumping up and down while filming himself.

Machado even started jumping up and down with the fan before realizing he wasn’t a teammate.

The fan was quickly removed by security and escorted out of the stadium.

The Padres (49-43) lost a 7-2 lead in the top of the ninth and were down 8-7 heading into the bottom of the ninth.

Jurickson Profar tied the game with a leadoff solo homer in the bottom of the ninth, and Machado later homered to left-center field to end the game.

“That’s how this team is built. We’re going to compete,” Machado told reporters after the game.

“We had our three best players step up to the plate and did a great job. We created mayhem like we’ve done all year. Now we have the best player in baseball step up to the plate and batting leadoff. It gave us a chance to tie the game and take the lead in the same inning.”

Machado said the walk-off home run was “one of the greatest I’ve ever had.”

It was his 12th home run of the season and his sixth at home in San Diego.

He entered Saturday batting .270/.320/.425 with a .745 OPS and 49 RBI.
