2 murder suspects who escaped Mississippi jail are captured after manhunt

Two inmates who escaped from a Mississippi prison while awaiting trial on murder charges have been arrested following a manhunt, authorities said Saturday.

The two suspects, Tyrekennell Collins, 24, and Desarius Johnson, 18, were found inside an abandoned house in Claiborne County on Saturday after escaping from the Claiborne County Jail the day before, Claiborne County Sheriff Edward Goods said.

Mr Goods said security camera footage showed Collins and Johnson fleeing through the ceiling and out an exterior wall.

According to the sheriff’s office, Johnson injured his right leg while fleeing and was walking with a “severe limp.”
