New photos show that Vikings rookie cornerback Kyrie Jackson and two of his high school teammates were killed and the vehicle they were traveling in was completely damaged in a car crash in Maryland on Saturday morning.
The Dodge Charger was seen completely crushed into the bed of the tow truck, with the rear of the vehicle completely detached from the rest of the vehicle. According to photos obtained by TMZ.
Another angle showed the inside of the car protruding from the body of the vehicle after the crash in Upper Marlboro.
Three men died in the crash: Jackson, Anthony Litton Jr. and Isaiah Hazel, all former football players at Dr. Henry A. Wise Middle School.
“All three victims were passengers in a maroon Dodge Charger that was involved in the accident.” Maryland State Police said in a statement:“Hazel was the driver. Jackson was in the passenger seat and Litton was in the back seat of the car.”
Jackson, 24, and Hazel, 23, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, while Litton, 24, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
According to Maryland State Police, the crash involved three vehicles, including a silver Infiniti Q50 and a silver Chevrolet Impala.
The driver of the Infiniti Q50 allegedly attempted to change lanes at a high rate of speed, striking the Charger, then the Impala.
Jackson was a star player at Oregon before being selected by Minnesota in the fourth round (108th overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft.
“We are absolutely devastated by this news. Kyrie brings an infectious energy to our facility and team, and his confidence and engaging personality immediately attracted his teammates,” Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell said in a statement Saturday. “In our short time together, it was clear that Kyrie will develop into a fantastic professional football player, but what was even more impressive was his drive to be the best person he can be for his family and those around him.
“I’m at a loss for words. My heartfelt condolences go out to Kyrie’s family, friends, teammates and coaches.”
