Caitlin Clark Breaks WNBA Rookie Record in Victory over 1st Place New York

There are many different kinds of statement games, and Caitlin Clark had a very big statement game.

On Saturday, Caitlin Clark recorded 19 points, 13 assists and 12 rebounds to become the first rookie in WNBA history to record a triple-double. She also became the first player in Indiana Fever history to record a triple-double. And, as you might expect, because she’s a rookie, she also became the youngest player to record a triple-double.

The Fever needed Clark’s full contributions on Saturday night. Indiana was trailing the Eastern Conference leader, 75-68, with 4:21 left in the game, but Indiana rallied back with an 11-0 run to hold on to the lead.

The Fever won 83-78.

As has been widely reported, Clark was not selected to the U.S. women’s basketball Olympic team, but she and fellow rookie Angel Reese were the only rookies selected to the WNBA All-Star team and will have a chance to play for Team USA All-Star on July 20.

Clark led the All-Star voting with an astounding 700,735 votes, while fellow rookie rival Angel Reese came in fifth with 381,518 votes.
