A Colorado teenager died after jumping into an electrified lake during a Fourth of July celebration, according to reports.
Jesse Hamrick, 18, jumped into Smith Mountain Lake outside Roanoke, Virginia, early Thursday morning, but his friends immediately realized something was wrong.
His friends jumped in after him and were shocked as they hit the water, but despite their own injuries they were able to pull him out. According to WDBJ.
One of the friends began CPR on Hamrick while the other called for help.
Rescue crews arrived at about 4 a.m. and rushed Hamrick to hospital, where he later died. Two of his friends suffered minor injuries.
A fire brigade investigation found electrical current in the water where the boy died, and police determined that stray voltage from a nearby residential dock was the cause.
No foul play is suspected in the death.
Hamrick, from Steamboat Springs, was visiting a friend with his family when the wreck occurred.

He had just graduated from high school in May and had been a standout member of the football and baseball teams.
“From the first time I met the kid, he was one of a kind,” said friend Alex Schwab. He told KDVR“When you see him, you can see he always has a smile on his face.”
“I still can’t comprehend it. I’m very upset,” he added.
