Pastor and author John MacArthur told a radio audience last week that America may be facing “God’s judgment,” adding that the only way it will recover is through the power of the gospel, not politics. Pastor Grace Community Church Popular radio ministry host Grace to you He spoke during the interview. Breitbart News DailyHe said America’s moral decadence was the result of the church’s failure to fulfill its mission and the nation’s abandonment of the Bible.
“I think about everything biblically. God is sovereign,” he said, “and God is in control of everything. And so no matter how bad and how demonic what’s going on in our country is, we have to remember that the devil is God’s devil. And the devil has limitations, he has boundaries.”
“So why is this happening?” MacArthur asked. “Because when a society falls back into sexual immorality, homosexual immorality and a corrupt mentality, God abandons them. In a sense, God withdraws His blessing from that society. And when God abandons them, it means that he gives them over to the consequences of their own choices.
“If that pattern follows, we’ll have Joe Biden,” he added, referring to Biden’s positions on abortion and LGBT issues.
Biden said: Romans 1 MacArthur said.
“Because that in itself is a kind of judgment from God.”
“The good news is, if we return to God’s Word, if we preach the gospel and people return to Christ, there is a way back,” MacArthur said.
“There is no way to change a culture except by changing hearts – changing hearts from within – and that’s where the church must intervene.“ He said: “As someone who has been a pastor for almost my entire adult life, I have to say that the church has failed miserably. It has tried so hard to look and sound the way people outside of the church want it to look and sound, but it has lost its impact.”
MacArthur said politics is not the answer to America’s moral decadence.
“The solution is not Donald Trump. It’s a huge move in the right direction. And if God allows it, if Trump becomes president, I would say God has been kind enough to put the brakes on a little bit.”“ “But the train is moving rapidly toward godlessness, and there is no way to stop it unless there is a major spiritual shift. And that is the responsibility of the church and Christians.”
“… We care about policy just as you care about sin and justice, and we want to uphold justice. But Christians also have to care more about the gospel. That’s all it takes to change people’s hearts. We can care about temporal things like politics, but the reason we’re here is to preach the saving gospel of Christ.
“The change He brings can change families, change communities, and change nations.“
