Marriage proposals seem to be all the rage, but in a strange twist, former Jets quarterback Zach Wilson’s best friend and ex-girlfriend has gotten engaged just days after the quarterback proposed to his girlfriend.
Commanders wide receivers Dax Milne and Abby Gyle They announced their engagement on Monday After the proposal on the beach, the recipient posted it on his Instagram account.
The news comes just over a week after Wilson and his model girlfriend, Nicolette Delano, revealed they were engaged while on vacation in Italy.

Given the controversy surrounding Wilson, Milne and Gyle, the timing likely did not cross some people’s minds.
Wilson and Gile were high school sweethearts before breaking up in 2022, after which it was revealed in July that Gile had begun dating Milne. Milne is a longtime friend of Wilson’s and was Wilson’s roommate and teammate during their time at BYU.
When it was revealed that Gile was dating Milne, some social media users called her a “homie hopper,” to which Milne responded on Instagram, “Wilson was sleeping with his mum’s best friend… he’s the real homie hopper.”
She deleted her Instagram account shortly after posting the comments, and Milne blocked her from commenting on posts about his new relationship.
While social media couldn’t help but poke fun at the accusations, Wilson never commented on the allegations, ultimately leaving this as just another strange chapter in his tenure with the Jets.
Milne was selected by the Commanders in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL Draft and signed a four-year rookie contract in May of that year.
He appeared in 13 games as a freshman, hauling in nine catches for 83 yards, then in 2022 had six catches for 37 yards and a touchdown.
Milne did not play in 2023, dealing with a groin injury.
Wilson, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 draft, was traded from the Jets to the Broncos this offseason.
