Wedding bells began ringing this offseason for Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe and his fiancée Hannah Lewis.
The couple exchanged wedding vows last Wednesday in Montana in an intimate ceremony attended by 30 guests. According to The KnotThe 25-year-old Zappe is preparing for a big training camp.
“We both have small circle of friends and we’re not big party people,” Lewis told The Knot about planning our wedding. “It just wasn’t our style. We talked to each other and said, ‘Let’s elope with just our family.'”
Zappe and Lewis, both fans of the TV series Yellowstone, announced their engagement in May 2023 and tied the knot in a mountain cabin with their loved ones before a long weekend filled with hiking, fishing and fireworks.
“It was a great way to blend our families,” the newlyweds told the outlet.
Zappe, who is preparing for a trip to Walt Disney World in Florida, is preparing for his third NFL season with the Patriots, who selected him in the fourth round (137th overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Zappe began the 2023 season as starter Mac Jones’ backup before taking over for the former first-round draft pick following a poor performance and being benched during the game.
The Patriots finished last in the AFC East with a 4-13 record.
Longtime coach Bill Belichick left the team in January after 24 seasons and former Patriots linebacker-turned-coach Jerrod Mayo was named his successor.
New England revamped its quarterback staff in March, sending Jones to the Jaguars in exchange for a sixth-round pick.
The team also signed veteran Jacoby Brissett in free agency and then acquired North Carolina native Drake Maye with the third overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
The Patriots then drafted Joe Milton III out of Tennessee in the sixth round.
Mayo: “Of course.” I’m going to bring in all four quarterbacks. It is not yet clear whether Zappe, who took part in training camp, will be named to the final roster.
Despite the awkward situation, Zappe plans to make the most of the opportunity.
“They told all of us that it was going to be a competition,” Zappe said in late May. According to the Boston Herald“Everybody has a chance to go out there and prove they can be that guy. All four of us are going to do our best to do that. And whoever gets that role, the other three of us are going to help that guy do whatever we can to get on the field and win games.”
The Patriots are scheduled to open training camp later this month and play their first preseason game against the Panthers on Aug. 8.
