Two planes appear to have gotten too close to each other while flying near an airport in Syracuse, New York, on Monday.
As the Delta Connection plane took off, an American Eagle plane was landing on the same runway. Local media WABC reported the news.
The incident happened around 11:50 a.m. near Syracuse Hancock International Airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

“Air traffic controllers instructed PSA Airlines Flight 5511 to go around Syracuse Hancock International Airport to separate from aircraft departing from the same runway,” an FAA spokesperson told Fox News Digital.

A police dash camera captured the incident on video.
The planes were about 700 to 1,000 feet apart vertically, according to FlightRadar24. It’s unclear how close they were horizontally.

The FAA is investigating the incident but has not classified it as a “close call.”
