ABC’s swift crackdown on Stephanopoulos’ bombshell comments wasn’t done without some controversy: The Disney-owned network is already airing the second presidential debate between Biden and former President Trump on September 10.

After Biden’s halting and weak performance last month, debate moderators may want to keep him out of the spotlight as much as possible, while Trump, who is currently leading in the polls, may not want to risk giving Biden any momentum.
