Marcelo Bielsa makes three changes: Sebastian Caceres, Jose Maria Gimenez and Rodrigo Bentancur replace Nahitan Nandez (suspended), Ronald Araujo (came off injured against Brazil but is officially on the bench) and Matias Vina. That might mean a switch to a back three.

Important Events

Please note there will be no overtime tonight. If the score is tied after 90 minutes, the match will go straight to penalties, just like when Uruguay beat Brazil in the quarter-finals.

Berhalter fired as US men’s national team coach

Here’s some big, if not surprising, news: Gregg Berhalter’s six-year tenure as coach of the U.S. men’s national team has come to an end.

Read Ben McAleer’s article on James Rodriguez

This semi-final feels ominous for Uruguay and the main reason to fear they may collapse in the final furlong is Rodriguez’s form. The 32-year-old is playing at the same level as he did in 2014, when his performances at the 2014 World Cup earned him a £63m move from Monaco to Real Madrid, making him the fourth-most expensive footballer of all time after Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez.

His performance at the World Cup generated the infamous headline:His name is Bond, James RodriguezAnd his resurgence this year has boosted Colombia’s chances of reaching a third Copa America final.

The pre-match score Uruguay 15-1 Colombia. That’s the number of Copa Americas Uruguay has won to date, although their 11 wins came before the tournament was renamed in 1975.

Colombia’s last home win was in 2001, which was also the last time they reached the final. Uruguay’s most recent victory was in 2011, when Luis Suarez and Diego Forlán shared five goals in the semi-final and final. It is Uruguay’s only appearance in the final this century.

So this is very significant for both teams and their fans.

Rob will be here soon, in the meantime here’s a little feud between Argentina and Drake.

Drake’s streak of defeats to diminutive geniuses continues. Just weeks after being publicly humiliated by the world’s greatest rapper, 5’5″ Kendrick Lamar, he was also publicly humiliated by the world’s greatest soccer player, 5’7″ Lionel Messi.

The Canadian rapper posted on Instagram that he bet $300,000 on Argentina to win Tuesday’s Copa America semifinal and won $2.88 million. Messi scored his team’s second goal, and Argentina beat Canada 2-0 to advance to Sunday’s Copa final, where they can defend the title they won in 2021.

After the match, Argentina’s social media team posted a picture of Messi and others celebrating with the caption “Not like us.” Diss track title Lamar’s aggressive song against Drake has been streamed nearly half a billion times on Spotify and marked the culmination of a public feud that most listeners viewed as a 7-0 rout of the California native.
