Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders met with Big 12 media on Wednesday as the team prepares to enter the conference later this year.

Sanders’ Buffaloes started off strong last season, winning four of their first six games, but then Colorado lost their final six games despite showing great promise for most of the season, finishing with a 4-8 record.

Prime told reporters he believes he is evaluated differently than other players.

“I am judged by a different standard. My victories are totally different from your victories,” he said. Via 9News“You’re just judging football.”

Sanders added that he can’t let his team’s GPA drop while leading it to a nine-win season. He said his team has to win “in all areas.”

“My winning is different. We have to win in every area. That’s how we’re measured. We’re a little bit different and I think that’s OK. So the expectations are high. But it’s not just in football, it’s been that way my whole life. … The expectations you have of me will never be higher than the expectations I have of myself.”

Sanders will also have to deal with his team being ranked near the bottom of the Big 12 Conference in the preseason polls.

Colorado enters the conference with high expectations and criticism, but winning four or more games would certainly boost the school’s standing — and with expansion set to begin at the end of this season, nine or 10 wins could secure a spot in the College Football Playoff.
