Obama knew in advance of George Clooney’s bombshell call for Biden to drop out — but didn’t object

Former President Barack Obama was informed of Oscar-winning actor George Clooney’s shocking call for President Biden to drop out of the 2024 presidential race but did not object, according to a new report.

Politico’s sources said the Hollywood A-lister had warned Obama in advance that he intended to make the call in an op-ed published in Tuesday’s New York Times.

The former president did not encourage or advise Clooney to make the remarks, but did not try to stop him, the people added.

Clooney, who co-hosted a Biden fundraiser that raised about $30 million less than a month ago, declared in the article that the incumbent president “cannot win.”

“This is shocking to say, but the Joe Biden I was sitting with at a fundraiser three weeks ago was not the ‘big’ Joe Biden of 2010,” Clooney said.

“He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same person we all witnessed at the debates.”
Obama’s team declined to comment on the report.
