Melania Trump expected to make appearance at Republican convention

Former First Lady Melania Trump is expected to attend the Republican National Convention next week, but it is not yet clear whether she will give a speech there.

A source familiar with the matter confirmed that the former first lady will attend the rally in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where her husband, former President Trump, will accept his party’s nomination. Her exact role in the proceedings has yet to be finalized.

CNN First reported Regarding Melania Trump’s plans to attend.

Melania Trump spoke at the 2016 Republican National Convention and was later criticized for its similarities to Michelle Obama’s speech, but returned to speak at the 2020 convention.

The former first lady has largely stayed away from her husband’s 2024 presidential bid.

Though she appeared at Trump’s 2022 campaign kickoff, she has not accompanied him to any of his campaign rallies, did not appear onstage with him following his victories in the Iowa caucuses, the New Hampshire primary or the Super Tuesday primary, and did not attend the first debate between Trump and President Biden.

Melania Trump also did not attend the former president’s trial in New York City, where he was ultimately convicted of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in connection with a hush-money scam during the 2016 campaign.

The first lady hosted a fundraiser for the LGBTQ group Log Cabin Republicans at Mar-a-Lago, Florida, in April and another for the group in New York City this week, and she was also present when she voted for Trump in Florida’s primary in March.
