A man was sentenced to life in prison. Conspired to kidnap, rape and murder Holly Willoughby is one of Britain’s most famous television personalities.
At a sentencing hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court, about 40 miles (65 kilometers) east of London, Judge Edward Murray told Gavin Plumb, 37, he must serve a minimum of 16 years of his sentence before he will be eligible for parole.
Plumb was convicted by a jury last week after an eight-day trial.
“You pursued an unhealthy sexual obsession with Holly Willoughby over a period of several years, culminating in a plot to abduct, rape and murder her,” the judge said. “As part of that plot, you also intended to harm her husband and children.”
He added that Plumb’s plan was “horrifying, shocking and detailed” and was not revealed in open court, although the jury heard it.
He added that the plan was “particularly brutal, cruel and vile” and said he had “no doubt that the plan is more than just a fantasy.”
