A 17-year-old girl is in critical condition after falling 40 feet from an amusement park ride in Canada on Thursday, according to reports.
CP24 reported that the boy fell from the Swing of the Century ride, which Canada’s Wonderland calls “the perfect attraction for the whole family.”
According to police, the incident happened on Thursday at approximately 2:45 p.m.

“Yesterday at 2:42 p.m., we were dispatched to the park for a report of an injured person. As there was no criminal nature to the incident, we remained on scene to assist emergency responders. A 17-year-old girl was transported to a trauma centre,” York Regional Police said in a statement to Fox News Digital.
“Park medical staff and emergency services responded and the guest was transported to hospital. An investigation into the incident is ongoing,” a Canada’s Wonderland spokesperson said in an email to CTV News Toronto.

“The safety of our guests and associates is our number one priority,” a park spokesperson added.

According to Canada’s Wonderland’s website, “Swing of the Century was one of the 26 original rides that were on the property when the park opened on May 23, 1981.”
Passenger safety information on the website describes the ride as “a chair swing family ride with freely suspended seats suspended from a tall, tilting rotating tower. As the tower begins to rise, passengers are rotated in a circle.”

It is not currently clear how the girl fell from the vehicle or the extent of her injuries.
