Republicans want Robert Hur’s tapes to find out how much the Department of Justice (DOJ) edited them to cover up President Joe Biden’s actions, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) said. Breitbart News Saturday.
The transcript itself caused a stir, with special counsel Robert Hur describing Biden as “an old man with a bad memory.”
“We also believed that at trial, as in our interviews, Mr. Biden would likely present himself to the jury as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a limited memory,” the Biden classified case report said. “Based on our direct interactions and observations of him, he is a person about whom many jurors would want to have a reasonable doubt.”
“It would have been difficult to persuade a jury to convict a former president, who was already in his 80s, of a felony requiring intentional insanity,” the report continued, adding that “Biden’s memory also appears to have had significant limitations.”
According to reports, Biden could not remember when his son Beau died, or when he was serving as vice president.
Comer said obtaining the actual audio tapes was essential because he wanted to “see the extent to which the Merrick Garland Department of Justice has redacted the records.”
listen:
“I believe this Department of Justice is corrupt. I believe Merrick Garland is corrupt. I believe they have done countless things to obstruct my investigation of President Joe Biden and his family. I would not be one bit surprised if Merrick Garland did not significantly alter or edit the record. If so, I believe knowing whether he significantly edited and tried to hide some of Joe Biden’s statements would help us move forward in holding deep state actors accountable in the Trump Administration,” Comer explained.
“We have done everything we can to provide the evidence to the American people. Without the cooperation of the Department of Justice, it is nearly impossible for congressional committees to hold people accountable. The Department of Justice is not only not working with us, it is working against us,” he said, pointing out that everything is being prepared in a credible manner.
“If we can get hold of Mr. Herr’s audio tapes and determine whether they improperly altered the records, it will help us move our case forward as the next administration seeks to fire some of the Department of Justice and FBI employees,” Comer said.
“At a minimum, bad actors need to be fired and preferably held accountable. I know this is much harder, but they shouldn’t be on the government payroll,” he said, adding that the tapes would help provide “some accountability.”
