Former President Donald Trump plans to attend the Republican National Convention in Wisconsin after an assassination attempt at a campaign rally on Saturday night, aides confirmed following the attack.
according to The Hill and Trump campaign senior advisers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles made clear Trump’s intentions in a statement.
“I look forward to meeting you all in Milwaukee as we continue our convention to nominate you as the 47th President of the United States,” President Trump said. “As our party’s nominee,
President Trump will continue to share his vision of “Making America Great Again.”
The convention is scheduled to begin on Monday, when Trump is expected to formally accept the party’s nomination and address the rally.

Meanwhile, President Trump posted on Truth Social about two and a half hours after the shooting, expressing his gratitude to the police officers who rushed to the scene to help.
He also offered condolences to the deceased attendee and confirmed that the attendee suffered a hearing injury.

“I can’t believe something like this could happen in our country. At this point we know nothing about who did it. He is now dead,” Trump wrote.
“I was shot above my right ear. I heard a hiss and a gunshot and felt the bullet penetrate my skin so I knew right away something was wrong. I was bleeding profusely and realized what was going on. God Bless America!”
Next week’s Republican convention will be held two blocks from where President Teddy Roosevelt survived an assassination attempt in 1912.
