Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York on Sunday slammed an unnamed “Democratic leader” who said Democrats had “given up” to another four years of governing under former President Trump.
In a post on the social platform “X,” Ocasio-Cortez said any Democrats who feel that way should “absolutely” retire from Congressional office.
“If you’re a ‘Democrat leader’ who feels this way, you should absolutely retire and make way for real leaders who refuse to bow down to fascism,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote on X.
“This kind of leadership is effectively useless to the American people,” she added. “Retire.”
Ocasio-Cortez is Report from Axios There has been a shift among Democrats, who say they are now more focused on the personal safety of their staff than on Biden’s position as the party’s presidential nominee.
“We’re all prepared for President Trump to be re-elected,” a senior House Democrat said in an Axios article.
Both Democrats and Republicans have generally shown efforts to present a unified stance in response to the assassination attempt on President Trump.
The Biden campaign has suspended its political activities and has withdrawn its political advertising for the time being.
