Watch live: Biden addresses the nation from the Oval Office after Trump assassination attempt

President Biden is scheduled to address the nation from the Oval Office on Sunday evening, a day after a shooting at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, left one person dead and two critically injured.

Biden also spoke early Sunday, saying he had had good conversations with former President Trump and that he had ordered an overhaul of security at Trump’s Pennsylvania rally and an evaluation of security for the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee this week.

Police officials told reporters on Sunday they were investigating a lone shooter at former President Trump’s rally on Saturday, adding that the investigation was being considered an act of domestic terrorism.

President Trump said Sunday afternoon he would travel to Wisconsin as scheduled to attend the Republican National Convention. On Sunday morning, he thanked the public for their concern following the assassination attempt the night before.

The FBI released the name of the suspect in the shooting at the Butler, Pennsylvania rally last night but gave no further details. Authorities said the suspect involved was Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.

Remarks are scheduled to begin at 8:00 pm EDT.
