Miami Marlins’ outfielder Dane Myers fractures ankle in tantrum after ejection

Miami Marlins outfielder Dane Myers’ ejection from Saturday’s game against the Cincinnati Reds cost him more than a few innings of suspension.

Myers kicked the clubhouse door after being ejected from the game after arguing with an umpire over a strike call.

He said he broke his left ankle when he kicked the door.

“It’s hard (to control myself), but it’s what you have to do as a professional,” he said Sunday, via Bally Sports Florida.

“I think that’s the last piece that’s missing in my game: staying calm, staying cool and not letting my emotions get the better of me.”

It has been a very difficult season for the Marlins since the team made the playoffs in 2023.

Myers is in his second season with the Marlins and has appeared in 40 games this season, batting .265 with a .759 OPS and two home runs.

He appeared in 22 games last season, batting .269 with a .644 OPS and one home run.

“He’s going to be out for a while,” Marlins manager Skip Shoemaker said. Via MLB.com.

“Bone fractures are never easy. It’s tough for him. The Jazz play a lot of infield, so he has a lot of opportunities.” [Myers] I should have gotten more playing time.”

Jesus Sanchez started in right field for the Marlins on Sunday.

He had one hit and scored one run in four at-bats.
