Usha Vance, the wife of Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, gained national attention Monday when former President Donald Trump selected her husband as his running mate.
Born in 1986, Usha Vance (née Chilukuri) grew up in San Diego, California, and attended Yale Law School, where she met the future Ohio senator, according to a New York Times report.
“We were friends, and I liked that he was such a hard worker,” she told NBC News in a 2017 interview about when she met her husband. “He showed up to my 9 a.m. appointment, and we started working together.”

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Vance earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Yale University and a master’s degree in philosophy from Cambridge University.
The couple married in 2014 and have three children together: sons Ewan, 6, and Vivek, 4, and daughter Mirabelle, 2.
A Yale University graduate, Vance served in several roles, including as a clerical assistant to Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts and Judge Brett Kavanaugh of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, Axios reported.

The wife and mother of three has long expressed skepticism about her husband becoming Trump’s running mate, telling Fox News last month that such a decision would be life-changing for their marriage.
“I wouldn’t change anything about our life right now,” she said, but expressed an openness to whatever happens.
