MILWAUKEE, Wis. — After Donald Trump selected her husband, Sen. J.D. Vance, as his running mate, Usha Vance thrust herself into the national spotlight on Monday when she accompanied him to the Republican National Convention.
Usha, 38, was with her husband, 39, as he accepted the nomination in a delegate confirmation vote, and the couple greeted jubilant convention attendees, including Ohio Governor Mike DeWine.
His second potential wife is a Yale Law School graduate and civil litigation lawyer who clerked for Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts.
She also clerked for Judge Brett Kavanaugh when he was a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
The Vances have three children.

The daughter of Indian immigrants, Vance (née Chilukuri) grew up in the San Diego area.
She will be the first Hindu spouse of a president or vice president and will succeed Doug Emhoff, the first Jewish spouse of a president or vice president.
The couple married in Kentucky in 2014 and were blessed by a Hindu priest at separate events. according to New York Times profile.

She said J.D. Vance’s 2022 Senate victory would have been an “adventure,” but “I wouldn’t change a thing about our lives right now.”
“But I believe in JD and I really love him, so we’re going to be open and see where our lives take us,” she said in the interview.
Vance said his wife is “not Christian” but has been “very supportive” of his growing faith since he was baptized in 2018.
“I knew JD was looking for something and I felt this was a good fit for him,” she said.
When asked about the challenges of an interfaith marriage, she responded: “I think there are a lot of things we agree on, especially when it comes to family life and how to raise children. So I think the real answer is we talk a lot.”
In the same interview, the senator joked that his wife had prepared him well for his debate with Vice President Kamala Harris.
“I have to argue with this litigation lawyer all the time,” he joked.
