Veteran Disney World character River Lips McGrowl is no more. After 50 years of success, he was unceremoniously renamed after his original name was deemed “insensitive and outdated” and likely to offend the delicate sensibilities of alcoholics.
River Lips McGrowl was one of 18 animatronic bears featured in the Magic Kingdom’s Country Bear Jamboree that was hastily removed before Disney would allow the character to return under a new name as the company continues its “woke” policy.
Loyal fans and those hoping to get to know him will be disappointed as the bear will not make a grand return along with the other robotic mammals when the attraction reopens on Wednesday after a seven-month hiatus. New York Post Reports.
“Liver lip” is considered a derogatory and offensive term and is associated with alcohol abuse and liver damage. Disney Blog Inside the Magic He claimed.
Nonetheless, some fans took to social media to mourn his death.

by NY PostMcGrowl is replaced and renamed by Romeo McGrowl, a bear with the same surname and similar features as River Lips, but with James Dean-like hair.
The removal of River Lips is part of a larger trend at Disney, in which the park is “committed to addressing and remediating outdated or culturally insensitive elements within its attractions,” the blog post said.

The revamped attraction, which offers “knee-smacking good times” inside Grizzly Hall, a rustic theater, will reopen as “Country Bear Musical Jamboree” in Frontierland at the Magic Kingdom.
