Kamala Harris rips JD Vance not even 24 hours after congratulatory phone call

Less than 24 hours after Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance answered a call from Vice President Kamala Harris welcoming him to the 2024 presidential race, the embattled incumbent’s re-election campaign was proceeding as usual just days after the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

The Biden-Harris campaign kicked off Wednesday with a video in which Harris, who many say should replace President Biden at the top of the list of candidates, took an aggressive stance against Biden, the Ohio Republican senator and best-selling author, as he prepared to introduce himself to the American people from the stage at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Wednesday night.

in 45 second videoHarris, who should know better than any current president how little the vice president has to do with policymaking, blasted Vance with an analogy familiar to anyone paying attention to the Democratic message this time around.

“Mr. Trump was looking for someone who would endorse his extreme policies. Make no mistake: J.D. Vance’s loyalty is only to Mr. Trump, not to our country,” Harris warned.

From there, the video verge on historical revisionism, with Harris comparing Vance unfavorably to President Trump’s first-term vice president.

“And unlike Mike Pence, Vance said he would have carried out Trump’s plan to overturn the 2020 election,” Harris argued, tying Vance to a theme Democrats have used to portray the Republican campaign as the most extreme in history (at least since the last election).

“He supported a nationwide abortion ban and voted against protecting IVF. And if elected, he will help implement the Trump Administration’s extreme Project 2025 agenda for a second term that targets vital programs like Head Start and Medicare. But we won’t stand for that.”

Project 2025 is a list of conservative policy proposals compiled by the Heritage Foundation for the new Trump administration.

Although President Trump has rejected the plan as terrible, it has nonetheless become the left’s new demon and Democrats are using it as a cudgel on the campaign trail.

Who is JD Vance, President Trump’s running mate?

Harris’ threat to prosecute Trump follows other prominent Democrats who have pushed a similar message.

“J.D. Vance embodies MAGA with his outrageous, radical policies and plans to help President Trump impose his Project 2025 agenda on the American people,” Democratic National Committee Chairman Jaime Harrison said at a press conference on Monday after Trump announced his nomination.

On the same call, Biden campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon echoed that warning, saying Vance “will make it his mission to implement Trump’s Project 2025 policies at the expense of American families.”

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) joined in, predicting that “the vice president will challenge J.D. Vance in an upcoming debate.”

What that will be remains to be seen, but the strategy for Harris and other Democrats is already set: JD = Bad for Democrats.
