MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Leading Republicans at the Republican National Convention (RNC) stressed to Breitbart News on Wednesday that the Republican Party is in fact the party of unity, while the Democrats are the party of division.
President Joe Biden’s call for “unity” on Monday was met with ridicule from Republican National Convention attendees given his longstanding vitriol toward MAGA Republicans and Trump, who was nearly assassinated on Saturday, but Breitbart News spoke briefly with one of Trump’s lawyers, Alina Habba.

“Look at how they attacked. [Trump] “In every sense, the only divisive party I’ve seen is the Democratic Party and the Joe Biden administration, despite the fact that he’s now well-known because of the last three years of being in court and fighting for him,” Hubba said.
“This is a disgrace, this is a lie, and I think it’s important that the American people wake up,” she added.
Rep. Corey Mills (R-Fla.), an ardent supporter of President Trump, spoke to Breitbart News about the “hypocrisy” of the left, pointing out extreme rhetoric from President Joe Biden and Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) over the years.
“This is the very same party that claimed to be the party of peace, the party of law and order. They were saying ‘cut the police budget’, writing graffiti in the streets saying that, and saying things like Maxine Waters said ‘we need to face all of our elected officials’. And Joe Biden’s highly inflammatory and dangerous comments saying ‘it’s time to put Trump on the bullseye,’ and now we see what happened,” Mills pointed out.

“When President Trump said, ‘We should all go home peacefully,’ a J6 irregular committee was formed and they went after him, saying he incited violence,” he added. “These are the same people who now say they defend law enforcement, they’re the same people who said they believe in unity.”
The Florida congressman said the left-wing political maneuvering driven by progressive victories highlights divisions.
“The hypocrisy and political shifts within the Democratic Party show that it is now divided and that the identity of the party has been hijacked by the progressive left that everyone is starting to pander to,” the congressman continued. “Here’s the best part: Democrats make predictions and talk strategy. The things they accuse us of doing are exactly what they are doing.”

Speaking outside Panther Arena, a few blocks south of Fiserv Forum, Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-Fla.) stressed that Republicans were united, but also noted that many Democrats were trying to dislodge Biden from his top spot.
“We are united. They always say we are not united just within the party. “We may have our differences, but we’re pretty much in agreement on the direction we want to take the country, and we’ve been for a long time. Democrats just go along with it. They do what they’re told, and that’s not very good for the country,” he said.
“They’re all upset now because they’re trying to find a way to somehow get rid of the Democratic nominee for president while saying we were a threat to democracy. Isn’t that amazing? Who is really the threat to democracy here?” he added.
Breitbart News also interviewed West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, a Republican candidate for governor, who said Trump’s policy vision unites Americans because it is better than Biden’s inflationary policies, saying, “No matter where you’re from, people know that President Trump has an optimistic view of America.”
The attorney general believes President Trump’s America First policies and themes — “Make America Rich Again, Make America Safe Again, Promote Energy Independence, End the Rule of Law, Enforce the Rule of Law” — “resonate with ordinary Americans in a way that Democrats cannot.”

“A lot of the policies that the Democrats are coming up with under Biden are very extreme,” Morrissey said, adding that “they’ve done absolutely nothing” about the fentanyl epidemic. He also pointed to Biden’s electric vehicle policy.
“They’re trying to push through an electric vehicle mandate that would be economically disastrous for our country,” Morrissey said. “Their policies would only cause inflation to skyrocket. President Trump and the Republicans have a good answer for that. That’s why the nation is united, because we have better policies, better people. And that’s why we’re going to win.”
Morrissey also praised Trump for running a “great” campaign and said his choice of Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) as his running mate “will ensure that we win the election in November.”
Hun Kao, a Republican Senate candidate in Virginia, told Breitbart News that the left is “driven by hate” and Republicans are “driven by love.”
“The left is driven by hatred directed at one man. They will do anything, even including trampling the will of the millions of voters who cast their ballots for Joe Biden in the Democratic Primary earlier this year,” Kao said in a statement. “But we are driven by love – love of God, love of family and love of our country, the greatest country on Earth. We will come together as Americans and prevail.”
“Donald Trump has always advocated for unity,” journalist Jack Posobiec told Breitbart News outside Panther Arena.
“Donald Trump has always said, ‘Make America Great Again,'” he said. “It’s always been the left, the left media, that’s added the words to that statement. They’ve been the ones that have said, ‘Make America Great Again is only for a certain group of people.’ Donald Trump has always said, Make America Great Again for all Americans.”
“He defines people as American and as not American. So it’s a basic understanding of what it means to be American. That’s it. He never supported division.” Human Event Daily The Real Voice of America reporter added, “He never did any of this and there have been times when people have tried to get him to do it, like in Charlottesville. They completely twisted his words and lied to try to get him to take their position. So he’s been calling for unity for 10 years and I think finally, finally people are starting to wake up to it.”
Blake Marnell, nicknamed “Brick Suit” Marnell, who can be seen at Trump rallies wearing a brick-patterned suit, told Breitbart News that Democrats have “sowed division” in the country.
Marnell said “there certainly seems to be a dynamic” of Republicans uniting and the left fragmenting, and accused Democrats of dividing the country as a whole.
“We must not forget that not only is the left divided among itself, they are the ones who have driven the wedge into the log and swung the hammer,” he said. “Joe Biden has taken to the podium, calling anyone who supports President Trump a MAGA extremist and blaming us all… They sowed division and now they are paying the price.”
Behind the unity of the right evident in numerous polls and the seeming continued advance of Trump and the Republicans are deep tensions within the Democratic Party over Biden’s treatment of Israel and Hamas. Widespread protests by progressives, young voters, Muslims and Arab Americans, as documented by the grassroots “Irresponsible Movement,” further threaten Biden’s campaign, where hundreds of thousands of voters rejected him in the Democratic primaries.
