CNN data experts slammed President Biden on Wednesday for making intentionally or unintentionally inaccurate statements about election polls.
Harry Enten, CNN senior political data reporter Biden criticized the article. The headline read, “Joe Biden Made False Statements About Current Polls.” He specifically criticized the president, who in a BET interview said, “Five of the last seven or eight presidents who have won at this stage, have lost by large margins at this point.”
“Either way, his statements are unconvincing,” Enten wrote.
Appearing on CNN, Enten echoed similar sentiments about Biden not getting his facts right.
Harry Enten accused President Biden of making inaccurate statements about presidential polls over the years.
Biden’s ‘disastrous’ debate performance sparks media mayhem, calls for him to withdraw from 2024 election
“Joe Biden has made a lot of comments about polls and I decided to take another look at it because that’s my specialty. That’s my specialty. If you’re going to get into my specialty, you better get your facts straight,” he said.
“So I looked at the last eight elections and said, ‘So, did the person who was leading the polls at this point win the election, or, in Joe Biden’s case, did the person who was actually trailing, as Joe Biden would hope, win the election?'” Enten added, “And what we found is that the person who was actually leading the polls at this point won the election six times out of eight, or 75% of the time.”
Enten also clarified that he wasn’t outright accusing Biden of lying, but that he might simply not understand the polling data.
“So the things that Joe Biden said in his BET interview were, quite simply, unconvincing,” he said. “I don’t want to say he’s not being honest, because maybe he just doesn’t understand what the polling data is saying, but Joe Biden has made a number of statements.”

Liberal newspapers, Biden media alliance urge president to drop out of race: ‘His arrogance is infuriating’
“What he didn’t say is that a president with poll ratings like his is going to continue to lose,” Enten said.
Enten argued that recent history does not bode well for Biden’s electoral chances.
“No president has ever been in modern American political polling who has won with approval ratings below 40% and disapproval ratings above 50% like Joe Biden,” he said. “You have to go all the way back to 1948 to find an incumbent president whose approval ratings have dropped as much as Joe Biden’s and who actually won the November election.”
