
Chris LaCivita, a senior adviser to the Trump campaign, slammed the efforts of the conservatives behind Project 2025, a policy blueprint for a future Republican administration by the Heritage Foundation.
“These people are not speaking for him. They’re not speaking for the campaign,” LaCivita said. CNN-Politico Event in Milwaukee as part of the Republican National Convention. “We’re the ones putting out the policy. From their perspective, in an ideal world, they’d like to be in charge of setting the issues. They can’t do that.”
“Are you being disrupted?” asked host Jonathan Martin.
“They’re a real pain,” LaCivita replied.
Democrats have been in power for weeks.Project 2025The report, published by the Heritage Foundation, details how a Republican administration would enact policies on abortion, immigration, climate, taxes and government regulation.
President Trump has actively sought to distance himself from Project 2025 in recent days, saying in multiple social media posts that he does not know the people behind the effort and that the group does not represent him.
“I know nothing about Project 2025, I don’t know who is behind it,” he wrote in a post on Truth Social last week. “I don’t agree with some of the things they’re saying and some of the things they’re saying are totally ridiculous and terrible. I wish them the best of luck in whatever they do but I have no affiliation with them.”
aCNN ReportA report released last week found that at least 140 people who worked in the Trump administration were involved in some way with Project 2025.
