Police comb through Thomas Matthew Crooks’ van that hid explosives, video shows

Police have conducted an extensive search of the white van suspected to have been used by suspect Thomas Matthew Crooks when he nearly assassinated former President Donald Trump, video shows.

Officers found explosives inside the van, including improvised explosive devices, sources confirmed to Fox News.

The source did not disclose how many or what types of explosives were found, but stressed that more than one was found. The source told Fox News that bomb-making materials were also found in Crooks’ home..

The video shows officers ramming the van for more than four minutes. It’s unclear when the video was taken, but it was after Crooks grazed Trump’s ear, killed a former fire chief and wounded two others in a shooting at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday.

Five days after the attempted assassination of the Republican presidential candidate, many questions remain unanswered..

Since the incident, the Secret Service and local police in and around Butler have been engaged in a war of words and finger-pointing as conspiracy theories have circulated on social media.

Lawmakers are demanding explanations. The House Oversight Committee has issued a subpoena to Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, who has complied and has scheduled a hearing for July 22.

“The American people want and are entitled to an explanation from Director Cheatle for the assassination attempt on President Trump and the egregious Secret Service failures,” the oversight committee said in a post on X shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday.

A former fire chief was also killed in Saturday’s shooting. Corey ComperatoreHe protected his family from a hail of bullets.

David Duch, 57, and James Copenhaver, 74, were seriously injured and are currently recovering in hospital.

A Secret Service sniper “neutralized” Crooks 26 seconds after he began firing.

He fired the shots from the roof of a building overlooking the rally, about 150 yards from where Trump was speaking.

Crooks would have turned 21 in September and had no criminal or traffic offenses on his record.

Voting records show that Crooks was registered as a Republican, but he joined the November 8, 2022 State Election Because of my age.
