Security being ramped up around Mar-a-Lago after Trump shooting

The city of Palm Beach, Florida, has issued an alert and announced increased security near former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort following the recent assassination attempt.

“On Saturday, July 20, 2024, South Ocean Boulevard will be closed to traffic beginning at approximately 4:00 p.m. due to increased security measures for Mar-a-Lago and individuals in the custody of the U.S. Secret Service.” Palm Beach amid warning The company announced this on its website on Thursday.

“The closure will be in place 24 hours a day, seven days a week until at least the November general election and will cover the area from Woodbridge Road to South Ocean Boulevard, as well as the roundabout where Southern Boulevard connects with South Ocean Boulevard,” the alert continued.

“The safety and security of those we serve is the Secret Service’s top priority,” a Secret Service spokesperson said in an emailed statement to The Hill.

“Due to operational security considerations, the Secret Service does not discuss the tools and methods used in our defensive operations,” the statement continued.

Former President Trump was the victim of an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, last weekend, with a bullet grazing the former president’s ear and he has recently been seen with a bandage on his ear.

“We’ve always had the Secret Service providing security,” Palm Beach County Sheriff Rick Bradshaw said at a news conference Thursday.
