An explosion that rocked Tel Aviv late Thursday night left one person dead and several injured.
Military officials have said they believe the blast was caused by a deadly drone strike, and Yemen’s Houthi rebels have already claimed responsibility for a drone attack in an area close to the U.S. Embassy, the Associated Press reported.
Although the drone was identified before the explosion, it was not intercepted due to human error: Officials said neither its siren nor its interceptor went off because the systems were not operational at the time of the attack.

The drone entered Tel Aviv from the sea side and crashed into an apartment building in the city at around 3:12 a.m. Authorities are still investigating the drone’s origins, and it is unclear whether the drone crashed into a building or exploded in mid-air.

Witnesses of the attack said it was much louder than a rocket attack and was extremely scary.
“It sounds like a rocket. It’s similar to a rocket, but much stronger,” Oltar Pilon said. “I’ve seen a lot of wars in my life. A lot of rocket sounds. But this one is totally different. It’s much louder, it shakes your bed, it shakes the building. It’s really scary.”

The Indian Air Force said the deadly incident “should never have happened” and took full responsibility for the failures that led to the deadly attack. It was also investigating the type of drone and the explosives it contained.
